The Technology Resource Centre is a scale-up of Technology, Access and Support for Seniors (TASS), which was implemented during COVID-19 as an innovative way of online program delivery to keep seniors connected, informed, and healthy from the safety of their homes. TASS also provided technical support services for seniors and the senior-serving sector. Later, TASS offered accessible tablets for seniors who were blind, deaf, or had other disabilities. In 2023, TASS offered technology for seniors living with early or moderate dementia. More info about TASS can be found by clicking here.

This innovative collective impact project ensures that senior serving organizations across Ontario have the technical backstopping available to adapt, modernize, and serve their clients through online program delivery. In addition to assisting seniors by extending a digital lending library with data and training to reduce barriers to participation, it also maintains a multilingual technical helpline to support technology-related inquiries from organizations and seniors.

The project offers:

  1. A self-paced online learning facility with easy-to-understand audio-visual training modules
  2. A technology bank for low-income seniors to lend devices with built-in internet and tech support to facilitate participation in online programs, especially seniors who are frail or lack access to smart devices or high-speed internet.
  3. A multilingual helpline 1-844-501-0001 for staff and volunteers to offer real-time support if clients have additional needs and questions after the online training.

If you are interested in learning more about the project and want to get involved with the digital transformation of the sector, please call 1-844-501-0001 or email [email protected].
